Gary is Professor of Medical Statistics and Director of the Centre for Statistics in Medicine and the UK EQUATOR Centre, at the University of Oxford.

Gary leads the TRIPOD initiative, a set of reporting guidelines to improve the reporting of clinical prediction model studies, including the TRIPOD+AI guidance for models powered by machine learning. He is also involved in numerous other reporting guidelines for artificial intelligence (AI) driven healthcare for example, SPIRIT-AI/CONSORT-AI for AI intervention studies, STARD-AI for AI diagnostic test accuracy, DECIDE-AI for early evaluation/human factor studies of AI interventions, and CHART for generative AI driven chatbots providing clinical advice, as well as risk of bias tools such as PROBAST+AI.

In my role as Director of the UK EQUATOR Centre, our mission is to achieve accurate, complete, and transparent reporting of all health research studies to support research reproducibility and usefulness. Gary has a strong focus on raising awareness and supporting adoption of good research reporting practices, including training. Many medical journals and funders in their instructions to authors refer authors to the EQUATOR Network. Our EQUATOR website which hosts a comprehensive reporting guideline library attracts over 1 million visits annually.

Gary is a BMJ Statistics Editor and founding Editor-in-Chief of BMC Diagnostic & Prognostic research.

Juan Franco is an Argentinian family physician and researcher who specializes in evidence-informed healthcare, with a focus on evidence synthesis and shared decision-making. He began his clinical career as a primary care physician at the Hospital Italiano de Buenos Aires. Since then, Dr. Franco has held several roles within Cochrane, including Managing Editor, Contact Editor, and Associate Centre Director. Since 2020, he serves as a member of Cochrane’s Governing Board. In 2024, he was appointed lead of the Cochrane Evidence Synthesis Unit Germany - Düsseldorf Sub-Unit. His research now focuses on supporting evidence-informed guidelines through evidence synthesis. Dr. Franco also has extensive editorial experience. He began as an Associate Editor of the local journal Evidencia in 2014. Since 2021, he has been Editor-in-Chief of BMJ Evidence-Based Medicine and clinical editor for the research section at The BMJ.

Gordon Guyatt is a McMaster University Distinguished Professor. His work, focused on Evidence-based Medicine, has resulted in over 1,500 peer-reviewed publications cited over 175,000 times - making him one of the world’s 20 most cited researchers – and had a profound impact on medical practice worldwide.

Prof. Hossam Hamdy is Professor of Surgery and Medical Education. A medical educator, pediatric surgeon, scholar, professional, and leader in higher education in the Middle East and internationally. He has established, contributed to, and led several Universities and Medical Colleges, Suez Canal University, Egypt, Arabian Gulf University, Bahrain, University of Sharjah, and Gulf Medical University, UAE. He has served in different senior academic and administrative positions as Chancellor of Gulf Medical University, Vice Chancellor Medical & Health Science Colleges, the University of Sharjah, Director of the Institute of Leadership in Higher Education, University of Sharjah, Advisor to the President of Medical Education, Qatar University and Dean College of Medicine, Arabian Gulf University, Bahrain. He is a member of the Medical Committee of the Supreme Council of Universities in Egypt. He has served as WHO Temporary Advisor “Consultant” in Medical Education.

He is active in medical education research and has published many studies in medical education and surgery and has introduced several innovations and best practices in Medical Education. He is a member of several editorial Board Journals in Medical Education (Medical Teacher, Medical Educator, Korean Journal of Medical Education, etc.). He is a member of the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME) Assessors team.

His work and contribution to Medicine and Medical Education over more than 40 years has been acknowledged and has won him many awards: The Sheikh Khalifa Award for Higher Education for “Distinguished Professor in Teaching”, led the College of Medicine, Arabian Gulf University to win the “Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award” for Best Medical College in the Arab world, “Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England “By Election”, and “Fellow of the Royal College of Physician of England”. He was awarded the honorary Fellow of the Association for Medical Education in Europe (AMEE) in 2021.

He was decorated by the Republic of France with the prestigious decoration as “Chevalier Dans L’ordre Des Palmes Académiques” / “Knight of the Order of Academic Palms” in 2011; awarded the Health Workers Recognition Award: Health Professionals Education by the WHO Regional Office for Eastern Mediterranean in 2021 for his achievements in Medical Education and the Emirati Doctor award in 2023.

David has been working in academia since 2000, with a focus on clinical care and evidence-based medicine since 2010. Upon completion of his PhD, he joined the Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine and his role is now divided between research, teaching and outreach activities.

Nina Rydland Olsen is a physiotherapist with a PhD specializing in teaching evidence-based practice within physiotherapy education. Since 2020, she has been the Head of the Section for Evidence-Based Practice at Western Norway University of Applied Sciences (HVL) in Bergen, Norway. She also leads the fully online master’s program in evidence-based practice at HVL. Olsen has been teaching evidence-based practice since 2005 and has developed expertise in active learning technology. She created a mobile application called EBPsteps and an interprofessional course in evidence-based practice that is now implemented across all health and social care programs at HVL and at three other universities in Norway. Her research focuses on the pedagogy of teaching and learning evidence-based practice, as well as the translation of evidence into practice, including the implementation of fall prevention guidelines. Additionally, Olsen is affiliated with Cochrane Norway and participates in international implementation networks such as the Knowledge Utilization Colloquium.

Julie Tilson is a Professor of Clinical Physical Therapy at the USC Division of Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy, Director of the USC DPT program and Associate Chair of DPT Education. She specializes in understanding the most effective methods for translating rehabilitation research into clinical practice. Dr. Tilson teaches evidence-based practice in USC’s doctor of physical therapy program and to clinicians nationally and internationally. Her curricula emphasize active learning and the integration of scientific research, clinical expertise and patient perspectives into clinical decision making.

Dr. Tilson is co-author of Evidence Based Physical Therapy, 2nd ed. (FA Davis, 2019) and has authored more than 30 peer-reviewed publications. Her clinical area of specialty is vestibular rehabilitation and she is a board-certified specialist in neurologic physical therapy.

Since 2021 David has been Co-Editor in Chief of the Journal of Clinical Epidemiology, a position he currently holds with Professor Andrea C. Tricco. In addition, he holds a portfolio of editorial and scientific support roles, including as Chair of the Scientific Advisory Committee of the Center for Biomedical Transparency, and a member of the Medical Strategy Advisory Board for Dr Evidence LLC.

He was the first Editor in Chief of the Cochrane Library from 2009. During this time, he was responsible for overseeing the quality of Cochrane Reviews, and the 52 Review Groups that produced them. Along with his team and a group of expert methodologists he established the Methodological Expectations for the conduct and reporting of Cochrane Intervention Reviews (MECIR). He was also responsible for leading work with Cochrane’s publisher to improve the presentation, content and visibility of the Cochrane Library. In 2019 David stepped down from this role, and was appointed as Emeritus Editor in Chief.

Prior to 2009 David worked at the BMJ’s Knowledge department, based in London, responsible for both the BMJ’s evidence products, Clinical Evidence and BestTreatments.
Having joined the BMJ in 2023 as Deputy Editor of Clinical Evidence, he subsequently became its Editor before moving to the role of Editorial Director.
David has also been a GP and senior partner from 1989 to 2003 in a large cosmopolitan, urban practice in South London.
Having been born and lived in London for most of his adult life, David now lives in a small village in Sussex, UK.

Dr. Tricco holds a Tier 1 Canada Research Chair in Knowledge Synthesis for Knowledge Users. She is an Associate Professor at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health, University of Toronto, and Co-Editor in Chief of the Journal of Clinical Epidemiology.

Dr. Peter Tugwell is Professor of Medicine, and Epidemiology & Public Health at the University of Ottawa. He is a staff physician and practicing rheumatologist at the Ottawa Hospital, Ottawa, Canada.

In 2001, Dr. Tugwell took the post of Director for the Ottawa Centre for Health Equity at the University of Ottawa. He has built a research program and multidisciplinary team around his Canada Research Chair in Health Equity.

Dr. Tugwell is co-director of the WHO Collaborating Center for Knowledge Translation and Health Technology Assessment in Health Equity as well as a member of the Organizing Committee of OMERACT (Outcome Measures in Rheumatology Clinical Trials). Dr. Tugwell is the Co-convenor of the Campbell and Cochrane Equity Thematic Group. He was the Founding Co-ordinating Editor of Cochrane Musculoskeletal, and currently serves on the Editorial Board of Cochrane.

In 2013, His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada appointed Dr Tugwell to the rank of Officer of the Order of Canada, the second-highest ranking conferred by Canada. The Officer appointment recognizes a lifetime of achievement and merit of a high degree, especially in service to Canada or to humanity at large. Dr Tugwell was recognized for his contributions as an epidemiologist reducing global disparities in health care access.

Dr. Tugwell's publication record includes over 1000 journal articles, monographs, and book chapters.

Dr. Per Olav Vandvik is a hospital-based internist and health research methodologist based in Oslo, Norway. He is also Professor of Medicine at the University of Oslo. His academic interests focus on evidence synthesis, appraisal, guideline methodology, dissemination, access and use at the point of care, to enhance evidence-based practice and shared decision-making.

Dr. Vandvik is co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of the MAGIC Evidence Ecosystem Foundation (MAGIC, www.magigevidence.org), a non-profit organization supporting development of digitally structured guidelines, evidence summaries and decision aids to clinicians and patients through the MAGIC online authoring and publication platform (www.magicapp.org). On behalf of MAGIC, he also co-steers the BMJ Rapid Recommendations, an international collaboration with the BMJ to accelerate evidence into practice through trustworthy recommendations. Within the context of the COVID-19 pandemic and infodemic, Dr. Vandvik and MAGIC is devoted to providing solutions to critical challenges with clinical practice guidelines, through trustworthy and living evidence and guidance. Under the leadership of Dr.Vandvik, MAGIC provides methodological support, MAGICapp and BMJ Rapid Recommendations for the WHO living guideline on COVID-19 drugs.

Dr. Vandvik was a Trustee of the Board for the Guideline International Network (G-I-N) from 2014 until 2020 and has recently led their Webinar committee resulting in 4 presentations focused on the COVID-19 pandemic. He is also co-chair of the Working Group for Guidelines and HTA in COVID-END that involves more than 60 partner organisations.

Jennifer Yost is a Professor in the M. Louise Fitzpatrick College of Nursing, Villanova University. Promoting the use of research evidence in decision-making, Jennifer utilizes her expertise in systematic review methodology and knowledge translation. She collaborates in international efforts to advance the mission, vision and goals of the Evidence-Based Research Network (EBRNetwork) and efforts of various stakeholders (e.g. patients, researchers, educators, funders) to reduce research waste across all sectors by advocating for no new studies without a systematic approach to reviewing existing research evidence. As a Senior Scientist Consultant with the American College of Physicians, Jennifer supports the development of recommendations based on the best available evidence to help clinicians deliver the best health care possible.
