Reflections from the Global Evidence Summit in Prague:

AI, Evidence-Based Healthcare, and the Road to the EBHC Conference 2026

Hans Lund, Melanie Golob, Tiziano InnocentiI recently attended the Global Evidence Summit 2024 in Prague, an important event for the international research community. Prague provided a great setting for a lively exchange of ideas that are shaping the future of evidence-based healthcare (EBHC). Engaging with global leaders in the field and witnessing the latest innovations reaffirmed my belief in the power of collective knowledge to drive meaningful change in healthcare.

This year’s summit was especially significant for me, not only because of the high-caliber discussions but also because it gave me the chance to reconnect with many esteemed colleagues. Several of the experts I met have long-standing ties to the EBHC International Conference, a gathering that has consistently pushed the boundaries of healthcare research. It was wonderful to see these familiar faces, many of whom I’ve had the pleasure of working with during the previous edition of the EBHC conference in Taormina. Meeting with old friends and fellow EBHC leaders reminded me of how close-knit our community is, united by the shared goal of advancing healthcare through evidence.

Artificial Intelligence: The Future of the Evidence Ecosystem?

One of the topics that caught my attention was the growing discussion about the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in evidence generation, synthesis and healthcare decision-making. The advancements in AI are reshaping how we generate, synthesize, and apply evidence, making it a central theme in many discussions.

There is a shared understanding that AI could revolutionize the way we approach evidence-based practice, but it also presents complex challenges that require careful consideration. The discussions about AI at the summit sparked new ideas and reinforced the importance of creating spaces where experts can critically engage with emerging technologies.

These are the kinds of conversations we aim to promote at the EBHC International Conference, which will take place from 21st to 24th October 2026.

Looking Ahead: The EBHC International Conference 2026

I am proud to be a member of the Scientific Board for the EBHC International Conference 2026. I am excited to contribute to an event that will continue the success of previous years while addressing the most important issues in evidence-based healthcare. The conference has always been a space for rigorous debate, collaboration, and innovation, and 2026 will be no different.

The theme for the 2026 conference will focus heavily on the intersection of AI and digital transformation, a topic that is crucial for the future of healthcare, as demonstrated by the discussions in Prague. In addition to AI, the conference will also address broader challenges such as improving the accessibility and quality of evidence, enhancing patient-centered care, and addressing global health disparities.

The EBHC conference is more than just a series of oral presentations and workshops – it’s a community. It’s a place where researchers, clinicians, policymakers, and innovators come together to exchange ideas, share findings, and most importantly, collaborate on solutions that can improve healthcare systems worldwide. The relationships built and the ideas exchanged at this conference have the potential to lead to groundbreaking developments in the field.

I invite all of you who are passionate about evidence-based healthcare to join us at the EBHC International Conference 2026. Whether you're a researcher, practitioner, or policymaker, this is an event you won’t want to miss. It’s an opportunity to engage with leading experts, contribute to crucial discussions, and shape the future of healthcare alongside a global network of like-minded professionals.
